The network has identified phosphorus hotspots, including ares with some of the highest phosphorus exports ever reported in Manitoba. LWCBMN is also learning that water flow matters - a finding which suggests that phosphorus loading to Lake Winnipeg can be reduced by replicating dry conditions in hotspot areas using natural wetlands, constructed ponds and dam. HTML LWF LWF Community Based Monitoring Storymap 2016 In 2016, partnering with the Seine-Rat River Conservation District and the La Salle-Redboine Conservation District, the Lake Winnipeg Foundation (LWF) launched a pilot field study to test drive the data collection and analysis protocols developed by LWF’s science advisors. From March to October 2016, over 200 samples from 12 sites across the two conservation districts were collected and analyzed for phosphorus concentration. HTML
